The Florida Gulf Coast women's basketball team dropped one spot to the No. 12 position in the 12th edition of the 2012-13 CollegeInsider.com Women's Basketball Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday night. The Eagles were ranked No. 11 in last week's poll.
Delaware (13-3), re-ceiving votes in both the AP Top 25 and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, along with Green Bay (14-2), Gonzaga (15-5), Toledo (15-2) and Chattanooga (14-3) hold the top five spots in the poll.
The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: A-merica East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Indepen- dents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-East-ern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, South-land, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast.
The Eagles (15-5, 8-0 A-Sun), winners of 26 consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference regular season games, are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in the Top 25, while Stetson received 57 votes.
In the FGCU's last game (Jan. 21), three players scored in double figures as the Eagles knocked down 11 three-pointers and forced 21 turnovers en route to a 67-37 conference victory over Lipscomb at Alico Arena. The Bisons' 37 points marked the third time this season that the Eagles have held an opponent below 40 points.
The Green and Blue, who have compiled an impressive 49-1 record in A-Sun home games since making the move to Division I in 2007-08, will be back in action on Saturday, January 26 when they host the Hatters of Stetson (15-4, 8-0 A-Sun) in a 'Battle of the A-Sun Unbeatens' at Alico Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
