Ida Baker Bulldogs advance

Four different players scored goals Tuesday night as Ida Baker advanced in the District 4A-12 boys' soccer playoffs.

The No. 4 seeded Bulldogs bounced Palmetto Ridge 4-2 at Bulldogs Stadium, sending them into the semifinals Thursday night at No. 1 seed Gulf Coast.

"It was a good performance leading us to the next one," said Bulldogs coach Scott Wills.

Landon Day and Andrew Falk scored goals in the first half to stake the Bulldogs (9-9-2) to a 2-0 lead at intermission.

Winston Marin and Filander Barahona tacked on insurance goals in the second half to provide the margin of victory. Oscar Trujillo contributed two assists while Diego Silva and Marin each added one assist.

Goalkeeper Trey Crispin saved eight of 10 shots on goal. One Palmetto Ridge goal came on a penalty kick in the second half.

Kickoff for the Bulldogs' semifinal match Thursday at Gulf Coast is 7 p.m.

Boys Basketball

Dunbar 58, Cape Coral 56: Cape Coral came up short at the end once more, falling to Dunbar Tuesday night.

Chase Galuzny hit for a game-high 20 points while David Flynn and Andrew Taylor added 12 apiece in a losing effort for the Seahawks (10-13), who host Island Coast on Thursday.

Bishop Verot 65, Gulf Coast 64 (OT): Mason Taylor poured in a game-high 34 points with Mitchell Fundingsland adding 21 as Bishop Verot clipped Gulf Coast in overtime Tuesday night.

Taylor also grabbed eight rebounds and Fundingsland nine for the Vikings (13-8), who play at Dunbar Friday night.

Oasis 55, St. Stephen's 8: Samantha Wood pitched in 14 points and Jordan Westendorf 13 to lead Oasis to victory at St. Stephen's Episcopal in Sarasota Tuesday night.

The Sharks (12-13) face Immokalee Wednes-day in the regular season finale.

Cape Coral 60, First Baptist 53 (OT): Macken-zie Beach pitched in a game-high 23 points to lead Cape Coral to an overtime victory at First Baptist Academy in Naples.

Camary Williams contributed 13 rebounds to go with eight points and Crystal Townsend added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Seahawks (191), who host Ida Baker Thursday night.
