Baker girls claim LCAC title

The Ida Baker girls' soccer team added the LCAC championship to its district championship Thursday night with a 3-0 victory at Estero.

The District 4A-12 top seeded Bulldogs (19-1-1, 6-1-1 district) wrapped up the LCAC with their 12th shutout win of the season. Shannon Pearl, Franny Farella and Monique Elliott each scored one goal against Estero while goalkeeper Angela Christiano recorded five saves.

"We're going to rest up for district (Friday) night at Riverdale," said Bulldogs coach Dave Trepkowski. "Give some reserves a bit more playing time."

The Bulldogs host the winner between Fort Myers and Palmetto Ridge, who play Monday at Fort Myers, in the semifinals on Tuesday night.

Boys Soccer

Cape Coral 4, Lehigh 0: Juan Cano tallied a pair of goals to lead Cape Coral to victory Thursday night at Lehigh.

Mateo Perez and Juan Alonso also added single goals while goalkeepers Alex Colazzo and Austin Lachmann combined for 10 saves.

Perez, Oscar Camacho and Jairo Alpire were credited with assists.

The Seahawks (14-1-3) host Barron Collier on Tuesday.

Boys Basketball

Lehigh 58, Cape Coral 51: Despite opening an early 10-point lead, the Cape Coral Seahawks succumbed to a late surge in a loss at Lehigh Thursday night.

Chase Galuzny pitched in a game-high 21 points to go with 13 rebounds with David Flynn adding 10 points for the Seahawks (8-10), who play Friday at Palmetto Ridge.

Girls Basketball

Ida Baker 39, North Fort Myers 31: Ida Baker rallied to take the lead in the third quarter en route to a victory Thursday night at North Fort Myers.

A 19-8 run in the third period gave the Bulldogs a 30-26 lead heading to the final period.

Jessie Placher connected for a game-high 19 points to lead the Bulldogs with Hannah Del Negro adding 12 points. Ali Nicloy pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds and Brittney Benvie grabbed 9 boards.

The Bulldogs (12-6) travel to South Fort Myers Friday night.
