Cape police recover stolen firearms

On Friday evening, the Cape Coral Police Department's SWAT team served a search warrant at 2209 N.E. Sixth Ave. According to officials, detectives developed information that firearms recently stolen from a North Fort Myers home were being stored at the location.

Inside the residence, police discovered multiple assault rifles, as well as narcotics and paraphernalia.

The CCPD is working with the Lee County Sheriff's Office to locate additional suspects developed from the investigation, officials reported. The suspects are believed to be in Lee County.

Recently stolen firearms recovered Friday during the execution of a search warrant at a resident at 2209 N.E. Sixth Ave. Narcotics and paraphernalia were also seized from the home.

As of Monday, authorities were not releasing the names of those arrested Friday nor those being sought.

"Getting dangerous weapons out of the hands of violent criminals is a top priority of Southwest Florida law enforcement," Lt. Tony Sizemore, spokesman for the CCPD, said. "Our agencies are working hard at this moment to do just that and keep this community safe."
