Cape Friends of Wildlife meet Tuesday

December 5, 2012
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The next meeting of the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife will be Tuesday, Dec. 11, 7 p.m., at Rotary Park, 5505 Rose Garden Road, Cape Coral. The purple martins will start arriving in January and our speaker Cheryl Anderson will tell you how you can bring them to your yard. Purple Martins are the only birds that depend on man to provide their housing, usually a gourd rack. There are two at Rotary Park and one was used last year by home-schooled children to learn about these special local birds. They were able to lower the rack to count eggs, clean and change nest material to manage a successful colony. They fledged 27 babies. The public is invited. Join us. www.ccfriendsofwildlife.org.
