Gators suffer 4th straight loss

Lehigh opened a 36-23 halftime advantage and held off Island Coast's comeback bid in the fourth quarter for a 74-65 victory Monday night at Lehigh.

The Gators started their comeback in the third quarter, but the fourth period drive came up short.

Angel Inchausti led the Gators with a game-high 24 points with Jordan Lugo adding 11 points.

The loss is the fourth in a row for the Gators (3-4), who host Ida Baker Friday night.

Boys Soccer

Ida Baker 8, East Lee County 0: Winston Marin and Filander Barahona combined for five goals to lead Baker past East Lee Monday night.

Marin finished with three goals and Barahona two. Alex Howard, Oscar Trujillo and Marlin Herrera each added one score. Herrera's goal came with one minute remaining in regulation time.

The Bulldogs (4-4-1) host district rival Palmetto Ridge Thursday night.

Girls Soccer

North Fort Myers 2, Estero 0: One goal in each half was enough to carry North Fort Myers to victory Monday night at Estero.

Madison Lampkins and Miranda Shirk scored the the Red Knights with Melinda Lukas accounting for both assists. Goalkeeper Amy Pavy was credited with 15 saves.

The Red Knights (10-0), with seven shutout wins this season, host District 3A-11 rival Cypress Lake Tuesday night.

Ida Baker 4, Bishop Verot 3: Unbeaten Baker had to come back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to beat Bishop Verot Monday night.

Franny Farella scored two of the Bulldogs' second-half goals. Marcela Montoya and Monique Elliott came through with one goal apiece.

"Once again we didn't come out to play in the first half," said Bulldogs coach Dave Trepkowski. "Being behind we really had to put defensive pressure on them. Cynthia Paredes, Lori Rosario and Morgan Holbrook shut down their counterattack in the second half."

Goalkeeper Angela Christiano made seven saves to preserve the win and the Bulldogs' unbeaten season.

The Bulldogs (13-0-1) play Thursday night at District 4A-12 rival Palmetto Ridge.

Girls Basketball

C.S. Naples 51, Oasis 27: State runner-up CSN handed Oasis a defeat Monday night.

Samantha Wood scored 10 points to lead the Sharks (3-5), who host Cape Coral Christian Wednesday night.
