To the editor:
I have to finally say something about our great city utilities department.
Talk about job security, I saw it at its best this past week. They, the utilities department, came out and had to run a new water line to my yard for a fire sprinkler system.
It took three men three hours to do that. Then, this past Monday, they sent three more men out with a sod cutter to trim the area up and make it straight and even. That took two hours with two men watching while one did the work. Then today, they sent another two-man crew out here with a backhoe to clean up the cut sod and level it out for new sod.
But that ain't coming here till next week sometime.
That took one hour.
Then they sent another man here to inspect the job to see if it was done right.
Like I said, talk about job security. Just think how much that cost the taxpayers for this job, and the sod still ain't put down.
Where is management at and why isn't there better job priorities in this kind of work? Seems to me you would do this all in one day with one crew. Think of the money saved.
