FORT MYERS - The Florida Gulf Coast women's basketball team earned the No. 7 spot in the third edition of the 2012-13 College-Insider.com Women's Basketball Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced Tuesday evening. The Eagles were ranked No. 8 in last week's poll.
Green Bay, receiving votes in both the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll and AP Top 25, along with Gonzaga, Delaware, Princeton and Middle Tennessee hold the top five spots in the poll.
The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Mis-souri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, South-western, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast.
The Green and Blue are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in the Top 25, while Stetson received 27 votes.
In the Green and Blue's last game (Nov. 18), the reigning A-Sun Player of the Week Sarah Hansen (McKean, Pa./General McLane HS) recorded 19 points, six rebounds and four assists as the Eagles dropped a 79-60 decision to A-10 foe Charlotte at Halton Arena.
The Green and Blue, who are 44-13 all-time in the month of Novem-ber, will be back in action over Thanksgiving break when they participate in the Paradise Jam (Nov. 22-24) in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Green and Blue will play three games in the Paradise Jam (DePaul, South Carolina, Hampton), opening with a matchup with DePaul on Nov. 22 at 3:30 pm ET.
