To the editor:
Mr. McNulty in his letter last week quoted the price increase over the past 10 years of 15 items and then raises the question do you believe we are on the right path?
The period that he makes his comparisons from are primarily during the Bush Presidency. He omits mentioning in his quote of gasoline that it hit $4 a gallon in May of 2008 which was eight months before Obama took office. President Clinton, I believe, was correct when he said a recovery from the Great Recession of 2007 could not be achieved in four years. The few of us who were born prior to the 1929 depression remember it took 12 years for the recovery and even then it took the heavy spending of WW II. In fact, our national debt then was a higher percent of our GDP than it is now.
Comparisons, when not properly made, are misleading.
