James Raymond Matlack

James Raymond Matlack, 87, was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Harrisburg, Pa., to his parents James and Elva (Slough) Matlack, and passed away in Cape Coral Oct. 23, 2012.

He is survived by his children, Edward Matlack of Ohio and Timothy Matlack of Cape Coral; grandchildren, Timothy Matlack Jr., Shelley (Kenneth) Kinder, Edward James Matlack, Adam Sethman and Brian Sethman; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Trema E. Matlack, and his daughter, Rose Sethman.

Mr. Matlack was a sergeant technician in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Phillipines and then moved on to serve in South Korea. He was awarded the Purple Heart and finally the well-deserved Bronze Star in 2011.

After his journey in the military, he continued his career as a service manager for Atlas Copco MCT. He moved to Cape Coral in 1987 and continued his service until his retirement at the age of 74. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and his friends at the Cape Coral Power Squadron.
