Richard Vaughn Grant Sr., 82, of Lake Hopatcong, N.J., and a winter resident of Cape Coral, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Cape Coral. He was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Harlem, N.Y., to Robert and Mary (Simpson) Grant.
He was of the Catholic faith and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a very active member of St. Jude's R.C. Church. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Keene of Lake Hopatcong, N.J., and Cape Coral; three children, Jacqueline (Grant) Hangley and her husband Michael, of Hopatcong, N.J., Richard (Tracey) Grant Jr. of Sparta, N.J., and Paul (Edie) Grant of Hopatcong, N.J.; a step-daughter, Laurie Keene of Cape Coral; as well as 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Joan (Merritts) Grant, in 1988.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Jude's R.C. Church in Hopatcong, N.J., at 10 a.m., Oct. 27. Family and friends are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude's R.C. Church, 40 Maxim Drive, Hopatcong, NJ 07843.
