Trinity Reformed Church of Cape Coral held an ordination and installation service Friday evening for its new pastor, Stephen W. Wetmore.
Pastor Richard Kuiken from Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church in New Jersey gave the ordination and installation message.
Of his new role, Wetmore said in a prepared statement, "I have the privilege of telling men that God forgives sinners and He does that through Jesus Christ."
Wetmore was born in Vermont, but from the age of 6 he grew up in Ticonderoga in upstate New York. He graduated from Albany State University in New York in 1992 and married his college sweetheart, Wanson. He then moved to Southern California to study for the ministry at The Master's Seminary, graduating in 1998.
He became an interim pastor in Lancaster, Calif., for one year then traveled to Cape Coral, where he had family. Although only intending a temporary visit, he soon settled here and began teaching at Providence Christian School. He and his family began attending Trinity Reformed Church in 2006 and he later began teaching Sunday school. When the pastor went into full-time missionary work in 2010, he became interim pastor.
Wetmore and his wife live in Cape Coral and have five children.
