June 18, 2014
Associated Press

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A preliminary investigation into a small plane crash that killed a flight instructor and student in Daytona Beach has found the Cessna's engine was still running as it fell to the ground and crashed.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1pgjOMq ) reports a federal investigator's initial report shows the plane entered into an aerodynamic stall before the June 9 crash.

According to the report, the plane carrying instructor Marlene Charlotte Mork and student Gabriel De Souza Marinho Falcao was in its initial climb after the "second touch-and-go landing" at the Daytona Beach International Airport. It hit the ground and exploded into flames near the airport, instantly killing Mork and Flacoa, both 22.
