In a game impacted by repeated lightning delays, the Dunbar Tigers defeated the North Fort Myers Red Knights 34-9 Friday night at Moody Field.
The NFM homecoming game started well for the Knights. Hank Gentile's 32-yard field goal gave the Knights a 3-0 lead.
The Tigers answered with a 40-yard touchdown run by Johnell Barnes giving them a 7-3 lead.
The remainder of the first half was a defensive slugfest and the score held at halftime.
Two procedure penalties backed the Knights second-half kickoff to their own 15-yard line. The Tigers' excellent field position then resulted in a 35-yard touchdown run by Daniel Cobb and a 13-3 lead.
An end around run by Dunbar's Jalen White put the ball on North's 2-yard line. A pass from Cobb to Ryeshene Bronson put the Tigers up 20-3.
After a Red Knights punt, Cobb completed a 50-yard TD pass to Roderick Nance for a 27-3 lead.
A 30-yard interception return for touchdown by Dunbar's Tajze Battle opened the lead to 34-3.
A 19-yard TD pass from North QB Brandon Makar to Brian Byrd brought the Red Knights within 34-9.
