Leslie Gerald Heinlen, 77, of Lehigh Acres went home to be with His Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Hope Hospice, Lehigh Acres. He was born July 11, 1935, in Sharon, Pa., the son of Robert Leslie Heinlen and Geraldine Shoemaker, now deceased. He married the former Elizabeth Montgomery 57 years ago in Sharpsville, Pa.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jeanette and Janet Heinlen, and a sister, Donna Heinlen Reed.
He leaves his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Beth Jeffries and Linda (Chad) Bell; five grandsons, Chad and Brian Jeffries and Joshua, Zachary and Caleb Bell; three granddaughters, Krista Jeffries, Brittany and Jennifer Bell; and two great-granddaughters, Brianna and Jaiden.
He was a journeyman finish carpenter in Sharpsville, Pa., and later moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he had his own roofing business. He was in the Naval Reserves for 22 years and retired as a chief petty officer in the Seabees.
Services will be held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home in Cape Coral, Sunday, Oct. 7, from 4-6 p.m. Viewing and funeral will be held Monday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m.
He will be buried in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, Pa., after a service there Oct. 12.
