olorato, 81, a Cape Coral resident since 1981, formerly of Chicago, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, in Cape Coral. She was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Modugno, Italy, to Nicola and Prudenza D'Attomo.
Survivors include Maria's two loving children, Anna C. Dato of Cape Coral and Michael (Maria) Colorato, also of Cape Coral; two brothers, Joseph D'Attomo and Peter D'Attomo, both of Chicago; six grandchildren, Ivan (Donna) Colorato of Chicago, David Colorato of Cape Coral, Nancy Dato (Kenny) Ellis of Cape Coral, Natalie Dato of Chicago, Alexandra Colorato of Chicago and Christopher Dato of Cape Coral; as well as three great grandchildren, Julia, Victoria and Michael.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sabino Colorato, in 1996; a brother, Muzio D'Attomo; a sister, Angela Amati, and a second sister, Anna Musceo, who passed away just two days prior to Maria.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, at Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1056 N.E. 7th Terrace, Cape Coral. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 21, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1922 S.W. 20th Ave., Cape Coral, FL 33991, with Father John Deery officiating. Entombment will follow at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ivan Colorato, David Colorato and Christopher Dato.
