CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) — A Tampa Bay area man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for fatally shooting a man and wounding the man's wife.

A Pinellas County judge sentenced 21-year-old Makeral Shay Crocker on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, aggravated battery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Authorities say 58-year-old David J. Paonessa and 66-year-old Jane Bryant were shot in their Lealman area home in November 2012. Authorities say Crocker and an underage male went to their home to buy pill, but then Crocker decided to rob Paonessa. Crocker shot the couple during a struggle, and Paonessa died.

The Tampa Tribune ( ) reports that the underage male was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading to third-degree murder.
