Carl Hubert Jones III, 72, passed peacefully into the Light Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at his home in Cape Coral after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in Memphis, Tenn., May 28, 1940, to Carl H. Jones Jr. and Willie Cathey Jones, now deceased.
He was a long-time resident of Mobile, Ala. He graduated from Murphy High School in the class of 1958. He then went on to Auburn University to earn a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and his masters degree at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He worked for many years for AC Electric Company of Mobile, Ala., and International Paper Company.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 14 years, Rubiela "Ruby" Serrato; his three children, Cary Lee (Danette) Jones, Theresa J. (Jeff) Bradley and Steven Andrew (Melissa) Jones; as well as three grandchildren, Ethan, Madison and Emma Jones.
He was the oldest of five children: Gene C. Jones, deceased,; James R. Jones; Brenda A. Jones-Rafferty; and Mary L. McDonald. Other survivors include many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
His favorite quote, "I would rather wear it out rather than have it rust out."
To a life well lived, he will be greatly missed by all who loved him!
A family memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
