Cape Coral First United Methodist Church's next sermon series is based on seeking and finding forgiveness. Our need to forgive and be forgiven can be equated with carrying a backpack filled with rocks. Over time the tiny pebbles and giant boulders weigh us down and break more than our spirit. Learn how to receive the freedom that comes with forgiving - even if the person needing to be forgiven is yourself. Understand the challenges that come with learning to forgive and ask forgiveness. Join the congregation for this important series beginning on Sept. 16.

Cape Coral First will be offering this biblically based 13-week support group meeting from 6-8 Monday nights beginning Sept. 10 in the parlor (room 104), and child care will be provided if needed. There will be a 35-minute DVD with various experts in Christian counseling and ministry providing valuable insights, and a facilitator to assist the group discussion. The cost for the workbook will be $15. The course is designed so that people can join at any time even though they may not be able to attend the first class. This class is open to everyone regardless of church affiliation.

GriefShare is a special seminar and support group for people grieving the loss of someone close. Starting Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m., in the Parlor (room 104), each GriefShare session includes a video seminar and group discussion. During small group discussion time, those attending will have the opportunity to interact with others who have experienced a recent loss, learn about their experiences and share your own. GriefShare is a nondenominational group and features biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. People are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. Each is "self-contained" so you do not have to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you begin.
