DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — A Panhandle public defender has been arrested on drug charges.
The Northwest Florida Daily News (http://bit.ly/1q9EVQe ) reports that Lenny Platterborze had worked as a public defender in Walton County for about 20 years before his arrest late Monday. He was fired after his arrest.
Platterborze made a first appearance Tuesday morning and his bail was set at $10,000.
The public defender's office said Platterborze did not request representation, and it was unclear whether he would hire a private attorney or represent himself.
His arrest warrant was served at the public defender's office. Officials said he was one of four people arrested as part of a joint operation by the sheriff's Criminal Investigations Bureau and the State Attorney's Office.
