41 single-family home
permits in August in unincorporated county
During August, contractors pulled 41 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at more than $13.3 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 63 permits issued in July and 37 issued in August 2011, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.
Seventeen multi-family units were permitted in August compared to four in July and 18 in August 2011.
Twenty new commercial permits were valued at nearly $20.3 million, compared to nearly $3.7 million in July and nearly $10.8 million in August 2011.
During August, Lee County Community Development issued 2,737 permits of all kinds for a total of 19,425 for the year to date.
Lee County Community Development oversees planning, zoning, development and building services, environmental review, building inspection, and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Lee County.

Builder and Developer Panel Discussion
The Lee Building Industry Association is bringing together seven local and national builders and developers for its annual Builder and Developer Panel Discussion. The Builder and Developer Panel Discussion will be Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Pelican Preserve Country Club, Fort Myers. The cost is $25 for Lee BIA members and $45 for non-members.
