Baker boys run golf record to 5-0

Ida Baker improved its season record to 5-0 Wednesday with a pair of wins over Cape Coral and Oasis at the par 36 Palmetto Pine Country Club.

Ross Lally and Payton Shehane both shot 40 to share medalist honors for Baker's Bulldogs, who combined for a winning 166 team total. Cape scored 199 and Oasis, playing its first match of the season, carded 203 as a team.

Sam Johnson and Anthony Lawrence led Cape's Seahawks with scores of 46 and 47, respectively.

Gina Falvey and J.P. Schlueter carded matching 48's to lead Oasis.

The unbeaten Bulldogs play at Riverdale Thursday.

Ida Baker 166 - Ross Lally 40, Payton Shehane 40, Daichi Dougherty 43, Dylan DeForrest 43.

Cape Coral 199 - Sam Johnson 46, Anthony Lawrence 47, Blair Langford 48, Jackson Herold 58.

Oasis 203 - Gina Falvey 48, J.P. Schlueter 48, Jack Mansell 51, Dylan Greenwell 56.


Ida Baker 3, Dunbar 0: Ali Nicloy and Ashley Vargas led Ida Baker to a 25-15, 25-19, 25-12 victory at Dunbar Wednesday night.

Nicloy killed seven balls and Vargas six at the Bulldogs improved to 2-2 on the season. Kristina Kayatta added four kills, six ace serves and three assists.

The Bulldogs participate in the multi-match Oasis Tournament Saturday and go back to the court Monday at Cypress Lake.

Charlotte 3, Island Coast 0: Island Coast stumbled to its third defeat of the season Wednesday night in a 25-5, 25-12, 25-11 loss to Charlotte.

Olivia Lugo contributed three assists for the Gators while Kalli Roggow and Morgan Whitman added four digs apiece. The Gators (0-3) face East Lee County Thursday night.
