To the editor:
Even in defeat, I remain grateful for the opportunity to seek a local position of important public service.
This is especially true because it takes a great deal of courage to vote for someone who may have appeared to be different, whether that's because of their name, background, family history, etc. It takes guts to support someone who doesn't just want to do the job as its always been done but who genuinely believes he can bring fresh perspective, if not a new approach, to our trial courts!
By the same token, it takes a different kind of voter, one who is fully informed, exercises independent judgment and is open to the idea that Justice, Fairness, Impartiality, as well as a true commitment to the Constitution and the Rule of Law, can come from someone - who wasn't even born here but - who with a heart full of pride chose to become an American many years ago, and adopted all its ways and traditions with the same passion as a natural born son.
Through it all, my family and I remain indebted and forever will appreciate each and every one of you that took the time to consider the substance of my candidacy and ultimately supported my Fernandez For Circuit Judge Campaign!
I also want to thank my opponent, Naples attorney Joe Foster, for engaging me in a clean campaign and do wish him the best of success as our next Group 18 Circuit Judge.
May "We The People" continue to be blessed and live as "One Nation Under God!"
MC Fernandez III, Esq.
