Fort Myers scored four unanswered runs in the middle innings to break a 3-3 tie and defeat the Bradenton Marauders 7-3 Thursday night at at Hammond Stadium.
Pat Dean pitched five solid innings, allowing three runs on six hits, to pick up the win and improve to 9-8.
The Miracle took the lead for good in the fourth with a pair of runs. In a 3-3 game, Angel Morales belted a single to left field that was misplayed by Andy Vazquez. Andy Leer, who was hustling to third on the play, continued running home and scored on the error to put Fort Myers ahead 4-3. Morales scored one batter later when Daniel Santana launched a double to the left-center field gap.
Jhon Goncalves added an RBI single in the fifth and Levi Michael singled home Leer in the sixth to put the Miracle up 7-3.
Relievers Clint Dempster and Ryan O'Rourke each pitched two scoreless innings to close out the victory.
Fort Myers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Marauders starter Eliecer Navarro. Daniel Ortiz plated Santana with a ground rule double, Danny Rams brought home Michael on a grounder and Kyle Knudson drove Ortiz home on a 4-6-3 double play.
The Marauders got a run back in the third to make it 3-1, then added two more in the fourth on a pair of bases loaded walks to tie the game. The tie would soon be broken by Morales in the bottom of the frame.
Navarro took the loss. He pitched four innings and gave up five runs and eight hits.
Santana and Michael each collected three hits. Ortiz had a two-hit game.
The Miracle took two of three in the series with Marauders and now turn their attention to Palm Beach. The Cardinals visit Hammond Stadium for a three-game set starting Friday at 7:05 p.m.
