To the editor:
I had the opportunity to listen to Dane Eagle speak the other day about his legislative priorities for our District 77. His 4-E'sEconomy, Education, Environment and Ethics.
The economy is on everybody's mind. Too many people are experiencing difficult times financially. Dane explained that we need to create a climate in Florida that fosters job creation. One that is friendly to business and people seeking to get into business. The current heavy hand of government (regulation and red tape) and high taxes is working against this idea. We need to help existing employers become more efficient and competitive by streamlining government, cutting out excessive regulation and bloated bureaucracies. Economic incentives should be established to expand existing businesses (e.g., lower taxes). These things have in the past and will in the future help spur job growth.
He added that we need to broaden the employment base in the Cape Coral area by attracting a more diverse mix of companies to our area. Simplify and shorten the process for starting new businesses. Infrastructure improvement such as (better) rail service to our industrial parks would make Cape Coral far more attractive to manufacturing. These steps will require careful coordination between state and local governments and the private sector.
Dane says what he means and means what he says. He is a man of integrity and he will get my vote for Florida State House District 77.
