Two-out hits carry Miracle 7-2

PORT CHARLOTTE - The Fort Myers Miracle came up with clutch two-out hits to take the rubber match of a three-game series against the Charlotte Stone Crabs 7-2 Saturday night.

The Miracle scored five of their seven runs with two outs, including three in the fourth when they got back-to-back-to-back RBI hits by Jairo Perez, Danny Rams and Anderson Hidalgo.

Angel Morales led a off the fifth with a solo home run to put the Miracle up 4-2 and later in the inning Perez collected his second RBI with a sac-fly to plate Daniel Santana, who doubled earlier in the frame.

The Miracle completed the scoring when Lance Ray and Daniel Ortiz belted a pair of two-out, run-scoring singles in the sixth.

Tom Stuifbergen put together his best performance of the season for the Miracle. In his fourth appearance of the year, he started and pitched the first five innings, giving up just two runs while striking out two.

Jose Gonzales pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Marty Popham closed out the game by getting the final six outs.

After shutting out the Miracle lineup over the first three innings, Stone Crabs starter Braulio Lara was roughed up by the Miracle in the fourth and fifth. He lasted five innings and allowed five runs over eight hits.

Perez, Ray and Rams had multi-hit games for the Miracle.

With the win the Miracle improve to 5-5 in the second half and move into third place in the FSL South Division. They'll return to Hammond Stadium at 4:05 p.m. Sunday to begin a series against St. Lucie.
