Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Daniece Mary McCarthy, 68, of Cape Coral and formerly of Gary, Ind., passed away peacefully Thursday, June 21, 2012, after a short illness with her children by her side. She was born Jan. 29, 1944, to Andrew and Violet Blaney.

She is survived by her children Kevin P. (Melinda) McCarthy, Maureen E. (Bryan) Fogarty, Colleen D. (Clint) Stoaks and Marianne E. (John) Griffith; grandchildren, Kiersten, Kara, Donna Marie, Skylar, Caroline, Sydney and Jackson.

She was married to James P. McCarthy, who passed away just 18 short days earlier. With her recent health diagnosis and the loss of the love of her life, after 47 years of marriage, her broken heart's desire was to move on to the next life and be with our dad.

She was predeceased by her mother and father. Known to most as Dani, she graduated from Wirt High School in Indiana. She married Jim Feb. 20, 1965. They were married for 47 happy years and together they lovingly raised four children. She was socially active in multiple local organizations such as the Ladies of the Elks and the Red Hat Society, where she generously gave of her time doing things such as clipping coupons for the troops and baking for the elderly at the holidays.

Her open arms and ease to welcome all in as a part of her family will be missed by the many "adopted" children over the years that our parents have raised, hugged, loved and touched.

The family will receive friends for viewing from 5-7 p.m., at Fuller Metz Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd, South, Cape Coral, today June 25. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 2628 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fort Myers.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Hospice of Cape Coral would be greatly appreciated. Please visit www.fullermetz.com to view Daniece's Life Tribute and share a condolence.
