Donna Jean Monahan, 71, died Monday, June 11, 2012, in her Cape Coral home.
She was predeceased by her parents, Chesley and Esther Simmons, her sister Gail O'Dea, and her two daughters, Gail Renee Zelinski, and Theresa Monahan. Survivors include her devoted husband Hugh W. Monahan, her two brothers Ches and James Simmons, and their wives, Lois and Brenda, and their families. She has two remaining children, Brian Monahan, and Deborah Katan. She also has six grandchildren, Heidi, Amanda, Anthony, Keith, Alyssa, and Kiersten, and one great grandson, Michael, along with one son-in- law, Jeff Talada.
She met the love of her life in Baltimore, Maryland, almost 53 years ago. They shortly thereafter moved to New York, were they remained for most of their lives. They raised their children in Long Island, New York. They then moved upstate were they proceeded to operate the Mt. Kisco Movie Theatre for more than 25 years. Then they retired to Cape Coral in 1997.
