To the editor:
I agree with Mr. Ralph Brookhart of St. James City to a point. But he doesn't seem to have his act together. I agree that there are plants, like the potato vine, that are strangling out our indigenous plants. But so was the Red Berry Trees, but what are they doing about it? I love animals but I realize there are limits to having them. If people want to own them, have them chipped and if one is caught running free, then fine the owner.
I endeavor to buy as many goods as possible that are made in the USA, but that has become nearly impossible. How long have you been doing this? Our economy didn't become bad overnight! Go to a retail store today and try to find an appliance that is made in the good ole USA. You cannot compare that to something you purchased 24 years ago.
Look at your portable radio and see where it came from.
Then Mr. Brookhart has the gall to refer to our President as one who has the mentality of a rock. After all, he is only a Harvard graduate. And then he alludes to Larry, Curly and Moe as his opponents. What is he looking for? Something that suits him?
He closes by saying that one should never buy a car made in another country. I have owned American-made vehicles since my first Ford. I would never buy a foreign car . Can Mr. Brookhart say that? He sounds as though he would support a Republican, but let's not forget that NAPTA was put in by George Bush the oil magnet. Maybe Mr. Brookhart would be well advised to listen to his President.
