Beginning Tuesday, June 5, through Saturday, June 9, during the nighttime/overnight hours of 8 p.m. through 5 a.m., flagmen will periodically close Alico Road between Quaker Lane and U.S. 41 for up to an hour while the contractor places bridge beams over Alico Road. Once the beam is in place, flagmen will open Alico Road to traffic. The road will close again to place the next beam. This operation continues every night through Saturday morning, June 9.
These periodic road closures resume on Tuesday night, June 12, through Saturday morning, June 16, and then again Tuesday night, June 19, through Saturday, June 23, from 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. Expect extended delays, seek an alternate route.
On the east side of the construction area, Alico Road traffic will be stopped at Quaker Lane (u-turns permitted) and at U.S. 41 on the west side of the construction area on Alico Road. During the beam setting activities, Alico Road is channeled into one lane for flaggers to control and guide traffic through the construction zone.
There are also intermittent daytime lane closures scheduled next week for the contractor to move equipment across Alico Road.
