FORT MYERS - The Fort Myers Miracle and Wendy's are hitting a home run to promote a red hot summer full of reading throughout Southwest Florida.

"Books & Bats" returns for the 13th season and asks students, age 12 and under, to read four books over the summer and then fill out a "Books & Bats" bookmark.

Students may pick up a bookmark from any Lee County public school, Lee County public library, Hammond Stadium or all participating Wendy's locations in Lee County a. Bookmarks were also distributed to private schools in Lee County.

Students will be asked to record the books they have read on the bookmark, and then return the completed bookmark to any participating Lee County Wendy's.

The aspiring bookworms will receive two tickets to a Miracle game and a free Jr. Frosty from Wendy's. Miracle tickets can be redeemed for games on Wednesday, June 13; Monday, July 23; or Friday, Aug. 10.

"Education Days and the Books & Bats reading program is a continuing part of our commitment to the local schools," said Director of Sales and Marketing Terry Simon. "This is a program that rewards kids for learning during the summer and we encourage all kids to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity."

Miracle tickets can be used by both children and parents. All students 12 years of age and younger are eligible to participate in the "Books & Bats" program.
