Lawrence "Larry" Ellwyn LaBair, 95, of Cape Coral died Friday, May 18, 2012. He was born in Pontiac, Mich., in 1916 to Layton and Gladys LaBair. He graduated from Pontiac, Mich., Central High School in 1934. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He married Mildred Bex in 1941. They lived in Oakland County, Mich., where Larry worked as a police officer for the city of Pontiac for 29 years and was a graduate of Northwestern Traffic Institute. He served on city council for the Town of Sylvan Lake, Mich., and was mayor pro tem. He retired in 1975 and moved to Cape Coral in 1977. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mildred; three children, Larry (Lola) LaBair, Andrea (Chuck) Rosenberg and Todd (Nicole) LaBair; two sisters-in-laws, Colleen Goodwin and Edna Bex; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren along with many friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, May 25, at Fuller Metz Funeral Home in Cape Coral.
