Beginning at 8 p.m., tonight, May 14, eastbound travel lanes on S.R. 82 will shift to the south side of the roadway from Ortiz Avenue to Forum Boulevard. Motorists should expect intermittent stopping and travel delays Monday night until crews complete the lane shift work. (This traffic shift was originally scheduled for Sunday night, but due to inclement weather has been rescheduled for tonight.)
There will be two travel lanes in each direction after the traffic shift is completed (sometime Monday night before 6:00 am Tuesday morning). Eastbound travel lanes will merge into one lane just west of Forum Boulevard. Westbound travel lanes will remain the same. At the time of this traffic shift and in the future, there will be a right-turn in, a right-turn out and a directional left turn into Destination Drive and Teter Road.
Crews will be reconstructing the median of S.R. 82 as part of the City of Fort Myers' S.R. 82 Widening Project. Motorists are advised to use caution while driving in this area.
