To the editor:
Term limits, not a good idea, and would only be suggested by bureaucrats who believe that honesty, good works, and dedication have no place in government today.
Those seeking follow-up terms are the easiest candidates to judge. There's a reputation, a performance record to examine, and a complete insight into the individuals character.
This is not to say that those seeking public office for the first time should be ignored, absolutely not!
The newcomers should have an opportunity to present their case, the incumbent then offers his accomplishments.and the voters decide at election time. Public officials who are railing for term limits to be decided by a group of other public officials are demonstrating incredible disrespect for the intelligence of the citizens and should be ashamed of themselves.
All public officials need to step back, take a deep breath, and understand that they work for us and if there's a question to be answered we'll do it at the polls. There's a process; it's called "Democracy" and I don't think that we are ready to change it.
