Joan C. Snider, 77, of Fort Myers Beach, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012. She was born May 9, 1935, in British Guyana, S.A., to Stanley and Amelia Gouveia.
In 1979, she moved from Ft. Wayne, Ind., to Southwest Florida and owned and operated Casa de Guerrero Mexican Restaurant from 1982 to 2002.
She is survived by her son, Mitchell Peters; daughter, Shawn (Richard) Irving; grandchildren, Ryan (Kelly) Peters, Elliott Peters, Melissa (Jeffrey) Peterson, Steven Irving, Tanika (Ryan) Briney, Brandon (Elizabeth) Austin and Jared Roy; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Gordon and Aubrey (Julia) Gouveia, Robert (Sherry) , Andrew (Jan) and Clifford (Terri) Myers; and special friends at FMB Moose Lodge (WOTM 551) and FMB American Legion Auxiliary 0274.

She was predeceased by her father, Stanley; stepfather and mother, Robert and Amelia Myers; and son, Scott Snider.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral for the loving and compassionate care they provided and also to Rick Rikaart who watched over mom for the last few years and remained a true friend to the very end.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 14, at 11 a.m., at Hope Hospice House Chapel, 2430 Diplomat Parkway, Cape Coral. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Mrs. Snider's name to Hope Hospice.
