David Newman, 91, passed away peacefully at his Cape Coral home Sunday, April 15, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Shirley.
He is survived by his four children, Rhoda, Cheryl, Paul and Robert; and three grandchildren.
He was born Nov. 22, 1920, in Bronx, N.Y., and lived most of his life in Peekskill, N.Y. He had been vacationing in Cape Coral since 1969, moving here full-time in 1993. He was a World War II veteran in the Army Air Force. He was active in several local car clubs.
He was a lifelong boater having built his first boat, a 25-foot cabin cruiser, at the age of 16, eventually owning a boat dealership/yard for 30 years on the Hudson River in New York. He also was a member of the Fraternity-Dunderberg Masonic Lodge.
