To the editor:
I am writing this letter because as a resident of Cape Coral I am concerned with who will be my State Representative for my district (77) in the upcoming election. As I have educated myself on the job of a "State Rep.," one name keeps coming up that I know could best represent me. That person is Chris Berardi.
Before voting, a lot of thought should be given as to what the job of a State Representative entails, who would have our best interest as a first priority and who would be totally committed to our community. A voter should look beyond a candidate's campaign promises and look at actual results.
A State Representative's function is to propose and vote on bills. As a former city council member, Chris has experience in that area and will bring that knowledge to Tallahassee. Chris voted to reduce spending, lowering the city's budget for the first time in nearly two decades.
A State Representative has the ability to revise or amend the state constitution. As a conservative, Chris has been clear about protecting the constitution and not amending it.
A State Representative has the ability to approve or deny the state's budget.
Chris is very strong in this area and is the only candidate in the race that has actually reduced a budget and cut government spending. He has a record of accomplishment in private sector business too, having managed a Fortune 500 corporation.
Over the years Chris has been very involved in our community in many different ways. He has been here in Cape Coral, working with all of us for more than a decade as a church deacon, Civic Association member, Chamber of Commerce member and volunteer for many charities.
After much research on the candidates, I have come to the conclusion that Chris Berardi will be getting my vote.
