Be prepared for ‘water emergencies’ limiting watering

April 28, 2012
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

Residents of Cape Coral, wake up ! Open your eyes and ears! Schedule Monday, May 7, to be at City Hall in City Council chambers, starting at 4:30 p.m. Why? Is it important? You bet! Is money important to you? Hello? Is your home important to you? Hello?

Do you take pride in home ownership? Are you ready to kiss your green, well-manicured lawn good-bye? Watch the value of your property plummet more? Hello?? On Monday May 7, ordinance 11-12 will be approved or denied by City Council. You can make a difference!!

"Speak your mind" when the ordinance comes up for discussion. If this ordinance is approved, "irrigation" could be only allowed "one day per week."

A green lawn, watered only once per week whenever the council declares a drought emergency, which could be as soon as May 8. Hello?? We have experienced drought almost every year, yet never have we cut back to one day a week. City Hall needs to find the illegal water users, fine them, and not paint all of us with the same brush!

If you're tired of paying high utility bills, including about $48 for just being a customer, you need to speak up. Silence will get you higher bills and less service!!

Are you going to sit quietly and let City Council "dictate" to you? What's good for you?? Hello??? Plan to attend the May 7 meeting,

OK? See you there.
