The two-run home run deposited over the center field fence by Ida Baker's Louie Ross was not the game-winning hit, but it did secure a 4-0 victory Friday night over Fort Myers and the District 6A-13 softball championship title.
"It kind of deflated Fort Myers and put us over the top," said Bulldogs coach Jim Schlotter. "This was a big win."
Maddy Peres took care of the Green Wave, striking out 12 and holding them hitless. Most of her strikeouts came after the third inning.
