Dan Grovatt's RBI single in the 10th inning lifted the Bradenton Marauders to a 2-1 victory Thursday night over the Fort Myers Miracle at Hammond Stadium.
Grovatt knocked a ball up the middle off of Bruce Pugh with one out in the 10th and pinch-runner Benji Gonzalez scores when Angel Morales' throw from center sailed high at the plate.
The Miracle had a chance to tie in the bottom of the 10th when pinch-hitter Anderson Hidalgo doubled to center, but Mel Rojas' relay throw to Drew Maggi and Maggi's throw home was in time to gun down Lance Ray at the plate.
Hidalgo was stranded on second when Andy Leer flied out to right one batter later to end the game.
Porfirio Lopez picked up the win for the Marauders. Starter Jameson Taillon, the second overall draft pick in 2010, went five innings and allowed one run while striking out six.
The Miracle got another great start from B.J. Hermsen, who pitched seven innings, allowed one run and struck out seven. Hermsen has now pitched 18 innings and given up just one run, but has no wins in his three starts.
Bradenton put on the board first on Maggi's RBI single in the third. The Miracle tied the game 1-1 on a double by Ray that plated Dan Rohlfing in the fifth. That would be all the scoring until Grovatt drove in Gonzalez in the 10th.
The Miracle (6-7) continue their three-game series against the Marauders (6-7) in Bradenton Friday.
