Ida Baker junior pitcher Maddy Peres struck out the first four batters she faced Thursday night to reach 500 strikeouts for her career as the Bulldogs defeated Mariner 8-2.
Peres finished with 14 strikeouts in the game raising her career total to 510 over three seasons. She also contributed two hits toward the Bulldogs' 10-hit effort
Louie Ross homered and was one of four Bulldogs with two hits, along with Deniece Bent and Jessica Nuccio, who tripled.
The Bulldogs (15-1) closed out the regular season Friday at Cape Coral.

North Fort Myers 13, Lehigh 1: Senior Liz Hernandez had perhaps her best career offensive production Thursday night with four hits and four RBI to help propel North Fort Myers to a six-inning victory at Lehigh.
Kaitlynn Grubb, Sarah Waitekus and Katelyn Kelly contributed three hits apiece toward the Red Knights' 17-hit eruption. Katrissa Rowell and Kaylee Morgan added two hits apiece, including a triple by Rowell.
The Knights (18-4) host Southwest Florida Christian Friday night.

Mariner 3, Ida Baker 0: Mariner's Jason Carmichael outdueled Baker's Branden Gutierrez in the Tritons' one-hit shutout victory Thursday night.
Carmichael struck out 10 in six shutout innings while Gutierrez fanned seven in his six innings.
Mariner pushed across two runs in the first inning, one on a single by Louis Ferrer and another on a fielding error.
The Bulldogs (12-11) play at Cape Coral Friday.

Cape Coral 3, Island Coast 0: Luke Spangler scattered five hits and struck out nine in a complete game-winning effort Wednesday at Hammond Stadium in a preliminary to the Fort Myers Miracle game.
Luke Spangler (2-for-3) also drove in what proved to be the game-winning run for the Seahawks in the first inning. Cain Spangler doubled in the second inning to drive in a run and Cody Carroll singled in the final run in the fifth inning.
"It was very cool and a good experience for the kids on both teams," said Seahawks coach Mike Gorton. "It was nice to play on the big field, giving everyone an upper level feeling."
It is the first year of scheduling a game at Hammond Stadium for the Seahawks and Gorton wants to do it again.
"It's another log on the fire to get the kids hyped up," said Gorton.
The Seahawks (15-6) hosted Baker Friday night in their final home game of the season.
