Joseph Martin Gabelbauer, 50, a Cape Coral resident for the last 20 years, formerly of Fort Myers and Elm Grove, Wis., died Monday, April 9, 2012, in Cape Coral. He was born June 8, 1961, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Henry and Jean Gabelbauer, now deceased.
He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time with his dog, Rex, and his cat, Bud. He was a big Green Bay Packers fan and was the owner and operator of Joe Gabelbauer's Trucking. But what Joe enjoyed most of all, was being a devoted father to his two sons, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 27 years, Sandra Gabelbauer of Cape Coral; his two sons, James Henry Gabelbauer and Jason Patrick Gabelbauer, both of Cape Coral; two sisters, Mary (Scott) Egan Scott of Brookfield, Wis., and Jane (Jim) Lynn of Minneapolis; three brothers, David Gabelbauer of Kiel, Wis., Jack (Kathy) Gabelbauer of Wauwatosa, Wis., and James (Mary) Gabelbauer of Beloit, Wis.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Bauhmer, in 2009, and a niece, Megan Lynn, in 2011.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 12, at the Hope Hospice Chapel, 2430 Diplomat Parkway, East, Cape Coral.
