Kayla Marie James, 17, of Cape Coral was welcomed into heaven with open arms on Thursday, March 29, 2012.
She was born in Cape Coral in 1994 to her parents, Stacy James and Karen Sutton.
She attended North Fort Myers High School. She had a passion for drag racing and was the 2010 and 2011 IHRA Junior Dragster Champion. Her other passions were the great outdoors, deer hunting and shopping.

She is survived by her parents; paternal grandparents, Glenna Purvis and her husband Douglas McKissick, and Edward (Claudia) James; maternal grandmother Phyllis Giordano and grandfather Tony Giordano Sr.; three uncles; three aunts; step-mother, Christina James; and her step-sister, Nicole Rivera; and several cousins, all of Lee County.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, at Fuller Metz Funeral Home in Cape Coral. The family will receive friends for viewing Wednesday between the hours of 5-7 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of flowers or Memorial contributions to the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
