During March, contractors pulled 34 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at more than $6.1 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 47 permits issued in February and 25 issued in March 2011.
No permits were issued for multi-family units in March. In comparison, 10 units were permitted in February and eight in March 2011.
Permits for 16 new commercial structures were valued at more than $3 million, compared to $2.6 million in February. In March 2011, commercial permits were valued at $39.9 million, due mostly to Park Royal Hospital a psychiatric facility valued at approximately $21.8 million in the Health Park medical campus.
During March, Lee County Community Development issued 2,893 permits of all kinds and issued 7,998 for the year to date.
