Huge, multi-family

yard sale

Cape Coral Alliance Church will hold a huge multi-family yard sale on Friday, Feb. 24, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 25, from 8 a.m. to noon.

The sale will include a little of everything - furniture, designer clothing, collectibles, glassware, small appliances and more.

The sale will be held offsite at 206 S.E. 37th Lane, off Palm Tree Boulevard at 40th Street.

All proceeds will benefit Cape Coral Alliance Church.

Irish Festival

Enjoy a taste of Irish American culture at the family friendly Irish Festival t6o be held March 3-4 in the Bavarian Gardens, home of the German American Social Club on Pine Island Road in Cape Coral.

This eighth annual festival is sponsored by the Cape Coral Irish American Club and features continuous live music from the Screaming Orphans, Kathy & Andreas Durkin, Cahal Dunne, West of Galway Band, Harry Boyle, Brian Bonner, Lee County Pipes & Drums, award-winning Irish dancing schools and more.

Celebrate March with Chef Guido's popular corned beef & cabbage, shepherd's pie and other fresh festival food.

Free adult-supervised Children's Lane with arts, crafts and games for for kids 3-10. Also, affordable carnival rides.

And try your "luck of the Irish" with Trip for Two Trip to Ireland raffle (B&B and car rental for a week-plus airfare).

Admission: $6 Adults. $3 students with school ID. Free children 12 & under. Portion of proceeds are donated to local charities and the CCIAC Mahigan Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Bead Show at Cape Coral Arts Studio

The Cape Coral Arts Studio will present a bead show by the Stone Age Emporium on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Choose from a large assortment of supplies for anyone working in Jewelry, Glass Beading, Bead Design, Precious Metal Clay or Gold/Silversmithing. Items available include: Gemstone beads, glass beads, lamp work and fiber optic beads in a large variety of colors.

Also select from a variety of jewelry findings including crimp beads, jump rings, charms, sterling silver and gold filled chain by the foot, gemstone pendants, cabochons, tools and more.

The bead show is free and open to the public.

March in the Park

The Garden Club of Cape Coral's fourth annual "March in the Park" will be Saturday, March 10, at Jaycee Park in Cape Coral from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This plant and garden art sale, is the major fund-raiser for the Garden Cub.

"March in the Park" will feature more than 50 vendors including the garden cub. Plants for sale will include palms, shrubs, fruit trees, natives, flowering butterfly plants, herbs, and dish gardens.

Garden art will include hanging baskets, hand painted pots and stepping stones to name a few.

There will be something for everyone.

Speakers and demonstrations will be offered every hour, on topics such as growing veggies in Florida, herbs, planting edible landscaping and flower arranging. Throughout the day there will be master gardeners available to answer your questions, along with many qualified garden club members.

Please feel free to bring questions and samples of garden problems.

The Garden Club of Cape Coral is now selling raffle tickets for prizes to be drawn during "March in the Park."

First prize is a beautiful hand-painted rain barrel, second prize is a wheelbarrow full of garden tools and third prize is two tickets to Royal Palm Dinner Theater.

There will be many other drawings throughout the day for restaurants, car washes, hair salons, tickets to Edison Ford Winter Estates, Cultural Park Theater and assorted plants donated by all our vendors.

Winners need not be present.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be available all day in the park.

Parking and admission are free.

Annual Flea Market

The North Fort Myers Community Center, located behind the North Fort Myers Library at 2021 North Tamiami Trail, will host its annual Flea Market outdoors under two pavilions and on the football field.

This Flea Market will take place Saturday, March 3, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m. The Pop Warner football concession stand will be open for food and drink purchases.

Vendor tables are still available.

Clean out your closets and turn your junk into someone's joy. Six foot tables available for $10 each under pavilions only. Six foot spots available for $5 each on football field only (you must provide your own tables). Take advantage of the crowds a community flea market can generate. Tables are going fast! Register early to guarantee your spot or table.

International Women's Night announced

The Multicultural Centre of Southwest Florida and Hispanic American Business Alliance announce the first International Women's Night, a gala to honor and celebrate economic, political and social achievements of women throughout Southwest Florida.

The event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. March 10 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 13051 Bell Tower Drive, in Fort Myers.

Tickets are $50 per person or $500 for a table of 10 and can be purchased online at www.iwnswfl.com.

The event is sponsored by the Multicultural Center of Southwest Florida and the Hispanic American Business Alliance.

About this tour: From an ADA-compliant boardwalk, this hour-long stroll will traverse a seasonal marsh while learning more about the birds, butterflies, and plants that call it home. Visit one small section of a 2654-acre Conservation 20/20 wilderness oasis that includes nature trails, wildlife observation areas, and equestrian trails. Restrooms available. for recreation center

Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center is looking for craft vendors for our upcoming Arts & Crafts Show to be held on March 3.

The show will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Wa-Ke Hatchee Park, 16760 Bass Road, Fort Myers. Spaces are available for a nominal fee of $25. Tables, tents, etc. are not provided. Electric space is available.

Winter Estates

The Edison Ford and Captiva Cruises has resumed Boat Cruises & Tours from Captiva Island to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, Wednesdays, 10 a.m. 4:30 p.m.

The cruise tour will provide a unique look at the Caloosahatchee River and its importance ecologically and culturally, a great view of the Edison Ford from the water, lunch at a private club and a tour of the Edison & Ford Winter Estates.

Ticket costs are: Edison Ford members $65 adults, $55 children (ages 12 and under); non members $75 adults, $65 children (ages 12 and under) plus tax and includes cruise, lunch and tour of the Edison Ford.

Lee County Conservation 20/20 is once again conducting guided walks at Prairie Pines Preserve on the first and third Saturdays of each month at 9 a.m., through April. The Preserve is at 28400 N. Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers.

Participants will meet at the parking lot kiosk. No special attire is required, but closed toed shoes, hat, sunscreen and insect repellent are always a good idea. For information, call 707-2206.
