Southwest Florida International Airport reports December traffic numbers

During December, 667,789 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 3.8 percent compared to December 2010. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 0.3 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in December was Delta with 141,379 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (116,247), Southwest (75,336), JetBlue (73,625) and US Airways (55,497).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 7,838 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 0.1 percent compared to December 2010. Page Field saw 6,779 movements, a 5.4 percent increase from December 2010. In addition, 3.4 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in December 2011, an increase of 9.9 percent compared to December 2010.
