Army Pvt.

Gregory M. Arredondo

Army Pvt. Gregory M. Arredondo has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

Arredondo is the son of Rosemarie Arredondo of Lehigh Acres.

Army Reserve

Sgt. Maj. Peter M. Doak

Army Reserve Sgt. Maj. Peter M. Doak is currently deployed to Iraq serving in support of Operation New Dawn, formerly called Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The New Dawn mission transitions and signifies a formal end to U.S. military combat operations in Iraq, and shifts the U.S. emphasis from predominantly military to predominately civilian as the U.S. officials assist Iraqis in accordance with the Strategic Framework Agreement.

The three primary missions of U.S. Forces include advising, assisting, and training the Iraqi Security Forces; conducting partnered counterterrorism operations; and providing support to provincial reconstruction teams and civilian partners as they help build Iraq's civil capacity.

Doak is assigned to the 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command based in Indianapolis, Ind.

He is the son of Carol E. and Richard J. Doak of Fort Wayne, Ind. His wife, Glenna, is the daughter of Julia F. Merrill of Hetrick Circle, Clearwater and Russell Merrill of Fort Myers Beach.

He is a 1977 graduate of Elmhurst High School, Fort Wayne.

Air Force Airman

Lorelle J. Jones

Air Force Airman Lorelle J. Jones graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Jones is the sister of Matthew Houston of Lehigh Acres, and Andre Young of Indianapolis, Ind.

She is a 2011 graduate of East Lee County High School, Lehigh Acres.

Brian K. Austerman

Air Force Airman Brian K. Austerman graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Austerman is the son of Dale and Michelle Austerman of Cape Coral.

Austerman is a 2009 graduate of North Fort Myers High School.

Air Force Airman

David W. Sutkowy

Air Force Airman David W. Sutkowy graduated from the Aerospace Maintenance Apprentice Course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas.

The student received training in aircraft maintenance fundamentals for repairing and servicing aircraft with turbo engines; general aircraft systems, components, and airframe; use and operation of hand tools, hardware, and ancillary equipment associated with aircraft maintenance; also, maintenance management, documentation, records, security and safety were taught to assess aircraft readiness capability.

The graduate will proceed to Dover Air Force Base, Del., to receive follow-on apprenticeship training in the aerospace maintenance field.

Sutkowy is the son of Cindy S. and Walter J. Sutkowy of Lehigh Acres.

He is a 2010 graduate of Gateway Charter High School, Fort Myers.
