Next month, Edison State College will begin its third series of small business workshops to be held in South Cape at the Community Redevelopment Agency meeting room. These new classes "Business Plan Workshop" will have three 90-minute sessions, each with a different topic. The workshop will also provide the opportunity for private sessions to review participants' business plans.
Edison Professor Tom McNulty, instructor for the workshops, said "Recognizing that small businesses in Lee County are facing challenging times, Edison State College has launched the new and innovative 'Center for Business and Entrepreneurship' to provide education, training and technical assistance services to the local business community."
McNulty continued, "In its initial effort, the center is continuing to hold classes in South Cape to provide local business people with the opportunity to take advantage of a local workshop series. The seriousness of the South Cape business community as resulted in our planning another program in December, a repeat of the basic 'Secrets of Success' workshop."
Helen Ramey, economic development manager for the CRA, said she is pleased that Edison chose to continue bringing professional education to the South Cape with a third series of courses in the CRA meeting room, as well as planning the December workshop.
The October "Business Plan Workshop" will meet Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m., Oct. 5, 12 and 19. Each of the sessions focuses on the skills needed to compete in the marketplace. The workshop series also offers private business plan review sessions by request. The cost is $20 for all three sessions in the series.
