Next month's roster of activities at Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:
ADULTS
- English Caf

Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Participants may start at any time. Advanced registration is not necessary.
- Chess Anyone?
5:30 p.m. Tuesdays, September 6, 13, 20, 27
Rise to the chess challenge and join the fun. Everyone is welcome. Bring a personal chess set, if preferred.
- International Literacy Day Program
1 p.m. Thursday, September 8
Learn about International Literacy Day. A member of the Literacy Volunteers of Lee County will present a program on how literacy is important for everyone.
- Craft Corner: Knitting and Crocheting
3:30 p.m. Mondays, September 12, 19, 26
Bring your ideas to light and make a handmade treasure. Materials will be provided, or bring your own project to work on. Sponsored by Friends of the Cape Coral Public Library. Registration is requested.
- Bagels, Books and Banter: Florida Crime Scene
9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 27
Find out who is writing Florida mysteries and crime books. We will discuss classic and current Florida crime novels while enjoying coffee and bagels. Sponsored by Friends of the Cape Coral Public Library. Registration is required.

- Family Storytime

This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes. Registration is required.
- Baby-Parent Rhyme Time

Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants. Registration is required.
CHILDREN
- Preschool Storytime

10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, September 7, 14, 21, 28
Preschoolers (ages 3 to 5) attend this storytime independently while parents or caregivers wait nearby in the library building. This storytime includes activities that require more participation and a longer attention span. Each preschool storytime lasts about 30 minutes.
- Kids Read Down Fines

Do you have library fines? Take care of them by reading! Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading during the allotted time in the designated area of the library. For ages 18 and younger.
- Pencil Pouches
2 p.m. Saturday, September 17
Listen to funny jokes, songs, and stories about school and then make your very own duct tape bag for your supplies.
TEENS

- "Minute To Win It" for Teens
5 p.m. Wednesday, September 7
Can you flip pennies or balance wooden blocks on top of a plastic plate on your head? Just like the TV show "A Minute to Win It," competing individuals and teams will take up a series of simple challenges. Gamers, judges and audience participants welcome. For grades 6-12. Registration is required.
