Army Lt. Col. Stephen L. Goffar has graduated from the U.S. Army War College Correspondence Course at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, Pa.
The course prepares officers of all services, as well as civilian officials of the federal government, for top level command and staff positions with U.S. armed forces throughout the world.
Students partake in the Army's highest level of formal education with the mission of preparing selected leaders to assume strategic leadership responsibilities in military and national security organizations.
Goffar is a chief of physical therapy assigned to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany. The lieutenant colonel has served in the military for 22 years.
He is the son of Dorothy Kitts of Troy, Mich., and Lawrence Goffar of Cape Coral.
In 1985, Goffar graduated from Athens High School, Troy, Mich., and received a bachelor's degree in 1989 from Ripon College, Wis. He earned a doctorate in 2005 from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu.
